If I had a Crystal Ball ©
If I had a Crystal Ball, I'd look into it now
To see if I'm to be with you ~ if so I'd learn just how.
Often life will send us special people down the pike;
And now and then we even find that some of them we like.
We as humans wonder if we'll ever find that one,
The one who is our perfect match ~ that single exception.
Do we give our heart up to the next one who comes by?
Or should we stop and pray a lot and ask the questions "Why?"
Why it is we should not falter, in our quest for best...
Why we'll never want again for one who's like the rest...
Why it is we can't submit to one who's not 'just right'...
And why we simply have to find that one to end our plight.
We go there once, we go there twice ~ It seems we don't get close
We ask ourselves "How often must we take this painful dose?"
Few people are so lucky that they know right from the start,
Just what it is they want to find in the one they give their heart.
I myself like most people, have looked for years and years;
And now I find when I look back I still see many tears.
Sure I had a lot of fun, and made the best of life,
But what I never did achieve was to find a proper wife.
In love and life the episodes we live out day by day
Tend to mold just who we are ~ the part we have to play.
Since I have been out on my own I've learned some lessons hard;
And it may have taken me a while but now I have regard.
I look at those around me and I often see their pain.
I know I never want myself to feel that pain again.
Sometimes little, sometimes large, sometimes in between...
It's pain that comes from not pursuing that which might-have-been.
People hook up with the ones that simply get them by,
And forget to spend the time to look for one with whom to fly.
I have done this very thing and learned this lesson well.
