About Me:
Greetings. Myself in brief: I am outdoorsy geeky layed
back braniac aesthete-athlete with a taste for random
stir-fries, long walks, and good conversation. I am
currently working as a Philosophy prof. to make ends
meet, and spending as much time as I can reading and
writing fiction. I love to talk about philosophy,
literature, and theology, as well as the weather and
the varying virtues of local cheap food. I am capable,
when called for, of being one of the most
confrontational and opinionated chaps you're likely to
meet, and yet I also frequently carry on lengthy
relaxed conversations with people who share none of my
tastes whatsoever. I am delighted by irony and
sarcastic humor, but despise pathological indifference
and neurotic role-playing. In addition to various
writing and editing projects, I have acted in several
plays, composed and performed original music (piano;
incidentally, I am NUTS about classical music),
published some decent photography, and sung in several
concert choirs; I love the arts in general, and tend
to connect best with people who are likewise
passionate. One of my favorite things to do with
someone or a group is to cook a meal together, eat at
a relaxed pace, and then break out various anthologies
or perhaps a play, read to each other for hours,
discussing and dancing and improvising all the while.
Another favorite is a loooong hike or
canoeing/running/scuba diving/basketball /badminton.
Or a movie or play...or dinner...or random walks
through the city. In essence: Literature, food,
nature, conversation, & walking.
I am looking for someone who share my life and
passions with, whether as friend, lover, or penpal.
Someone of an brainy/artsy bent certainly, but also
who is kind and generous as well, whose
artistic/intellectual endeavors serve to make them
more tolerant, sincere, and creatively compassionate,
rather than more elitist and ironically detached.
